The Art of the CV

To celebrate New College of the Humanities inaugural graduation, it has commissioned three globally acclaimed artists to visually transform studentsÂ’ CVs for an exhibition called the Art of the CV, which opens tomorrow (Friday 18 September), showcasing the worldÂ’s most creative CVs Pictured: Graduating student Raphael Tulkens looks at his portrait by Juan Osborne

I had the fortune to be chosen one of artists to participate in “The Art of the CV”, an exhibition celebrating talents of students of New College of the Humanities University. The goal was to convert student’s curriculum in an artistic visual representation of it.

I love how NCH want to show us that a CV is more than words. I think it’s original and unique, and sure represents the way students are educated in that institution, by getting more than just knowledge.

Dream is Over

JO-D-150910-LennonGod06_590pix

Long time without posting! Pretty busy with too many things in my life, but now I have a little free time in my hands and a strong reason, so it’s time to come back with a kind of remake… yes I know… John Lennon again?

But this time as a tribute to one of my favourite songs, “God”. Love how minimal and strong lyrics are. It’s like someone shaking your mind and, at the same time, blowing away his own idol statue.

In a world where fans follow idols by most stupid reasons I think it’s time to ask yourself what they did for you, or what they did for the rest of us… think about it. Life is great, and it’s ok to enjoy sports, enjoy music, enjoy movies… whatever. But don’t forget where real heroes are, close to you or in a lab saving your future.

It’s my little birthday present to a special person, she is like a miracle in my life and I feel the luckiest person in the world having the opportunity to be close to her while growing. Happy birthday honey, I believe in you… and keep dreaming!, but by the real good reasons!

The Thrill is Gone

JO-D-150521-BBKing-01_590pix

We have to say goodbye to another incredible human being… BB King is gone.

He let us a lot of great quotes, may be because he cant stop talking while playing!, but I love this one “I believe all people are good. Some just do bad things”.

But for this illustration I spread lyrics of The Thrill is Gone over one of his iconic images.

A couple additional tryouts.

Rome!

JO-D-150512-Rome01_590pix

My little tribute to one of the most beautiful cities in the world, but at the same time one of the craziest. I did a little family trip last April and it was a great experience… unforgettable pizza at da Baffetto!

Illustration composed with my personal selection of words related to Rome.
